Description: |
Rare opportunity to see Old Florida and to experience how the original Florida Crackers or cow hunters drove cattle overland to the various shipping points located around the state. 12 wounded veterans will have the opportunity to ride a horse, drive cattle, ride wagons and camp for a week in some of the most beautiful woods in Central Florida. Veterans will be paired up with a horse and trainer to get familiar with the horse prior to the event. It will take a commitment, time and travel for the veteran to make this happen ahead of the event. It will last for 6 days and is not easy traveling, about 6-8 hours a day in a saddle, primitive camping, lots of good food, lots of fun, good people and good times. The Seminole Indian Tribe will be a big part of the event and will be doing live dances and historic presentations throughout the event. Each night will have different historical presentations. At the end of the trail, there will be big celebration at the Kenansville Rodeo grounds that is open to the public to watch the cows come home.
****THIS RIDE WILL TAKE A COMMITTMENT TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR HORSE AND TO CONDITION YOURSELF FOR THE RIDE. PARTICIPANTS MUST MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS TO BE SELECTED. THIS IS NOT A DRAW SELECTION EVENT ****
